Brazos River country, Gulf weather and heavy ground

Flooding drives a lot of this county's plumbing damage. The Brazos River gave the county its name, and its June 2016 flood forced evacuations. Heavy rain also soaks the flat coastal ground, which slows anything that depends on the soil to drain.

Clear Creek, Pearland's new plant and what changes at the tap

Pearland has its own water story. A city official told Congress in 2017 that Harvey reached over 1,700 residences, mostly along Clear Creek, with very little flooding in newer areas built to current standards. Its surface water plant began pumping on October 11, 2024, which reduces reliance on Houston. If taste or scale has changed since, water filtration is a sensible next step, and drain cleaning covers the slow lines.

Plumbing questions from Brazoria County

Does PipeElectric cover all of Brazoria County?

Our listed communities are Pearland, Alvin, Angleton and Lake Jackson. Angleton is about 44 miles from downtown Houston and Lake Jackson about 56, so call first to confirm availability there. Other addresses are worth a phone call, and we will tell you plainly what is possible.

Do you work on septic systems in rural Brazoria County?

We work on the plumbing up to the system, including drains and water lines. Septic pumping and tank work are specialist jobs, and they are not on our service list. If a drain problem traces back to the tank or field, we will say so, and you can call a septic company.

What should I do when the Brazos River rises?

Turn off gas and power to anything that may get wet, and shut the main water valve if you leave. After the water drops, have the heater and sewer line inspected before normal use. The Brazos forced evacuations in parts of the county in June 2016, so plan ahead.

Why does a new Pearland-area house have plumbing trouble?

New does not mean problem free. Slabs on clay still shift as the ground settles, and fittings can leak in the first years. Heavy traffic on a builder-grade fixture also shows up early. Start with the water meter test, since a moving dial with everything off means a real leak.
